Case study — Sonic Journey · Luxury Hospitality

The sonic journey of a palace
Hôtel Ritz Paris

For whom — Hotel directors, luxury hospitality groups, interior architects

Four years of renovation to rediscover the soul of an emblematic place — and reinvent it, down to its silences.

Design of the complete sonic journey of the hotel and the Bar, Place Vendôme: comfort, experience and uses of every space, in the service of the invisible writing of standing.

Rediscovering a soul, reinventing it

The Ritz Paris is not a hotel like any other — it is an emblematic landmark of world hospitality, charged with a century of history. Its complete renovation raised a rare question: how do you rediscover the sonic soul of a place everyone believes they know, while reinventing it for today's uses?

In luxury hospitality, acoustic comfort is a direct determinant of guest satisfaction and loyalty. It cannot be reduced to the sound insulation of the rooms: it is built through the coherence of the overall sonic journey — from the arrival on Place Vendôme to the corridors, from the lobby to the Bar, from the salons to the rooms.

Composing each space like a score

Design of the complete sonic journey of the hotel and the Bar: analysis of the uses of each space, definition of continuities and contrasts of atmosphere, fine handling of transitions and thresholds, specification of contents and their spatialisation. Each space becomes a score in the service of comfort, experience and memory.

Silences as the material of luxury

In a palace hotel, luxury is heard as much as it is seen — yet it never asks to be listened to. Subtle sonic continuities between spaces, the staging of silences and the legibility of atmospheres all contribute to the invisible writing of standing: guests feel at ease, they stay longer, they return.

The invisible writing

The right sound goes unnoticed — it is felt. The rediscovered soul of a palace: a place recognisable above all others, down to its silences.

A place you recognise by ear

A coherent sonic journey across the whole hotel, from the Bar to the reception spaces — designed to last, discreet in its presence, precise in its effects. This experience underpins my approach to sound design in luxury hospitality, from the Plaza Athénée to the Hermès maisons.
